September 11th, 2001 – 20 Years Later

It was September 11th, 2001 and I was 12 years old. I vividly remember the footage- the impact, the explosions, the fire, the desperate jumpers, the collapse, and the plume of smoke and debris that ensued. I remember the tears, the anguish, the fear, the courage, and the vow for justice from our Commander in Chief. However, what I remember most of all, are the hugs, the smiles, and the overall kindness from perfect strangers. It didn’t matter what color our skin was, what gender we were, who we loved, how much money we had, or what our political leanings were- we were all Americans, and that’s what bonded us. I remember a day where all of us truly put America first- and that I will NEVER FORGET!
